I am loving the new show Sarah 101 on HGTV, how could you not with Sarah and Tommy!

The second episode was a nursery design that I really love.  The blue and orange palette is perfect for any little boy to grow into.  I really like how Sarah makes a nursery that will grow with the child, with real pieces of furniture that can either stay in the room as your child grows up or easily be moved to another room in the house.  There are so many elements from this room that I have done in both of my kids.

Some of Sarah’s tips from the episode were:

  • You don’t need half of the furniture you think you need. Don’t buy an expensive crib as it is only used for 2 years.
  • Spend the majority of your budget on the main pieces of furniture that will last for years and years, like a dresser or the great orange chair that I can see in a teenagers room.
  • Choose a piece of furniture for the change table, as long as it fits a change pad anything will work.
  • Place the crib in a location that you can see from the doorway, you don’t want to disturb a sleeping baby!
  • Choose inexpensive wall art to decorate the walls.

If you would like to watch the episode you can on HGTV’s website and be sure to tune in tonight at 9pm as they do up an Industrial Soul Bedroom.

I love when customers give me challenges and want me to do something different for them. I do many different things and don’t always share them with all of you. I am starting now!

I had a customer and friend contact me for a wall art, but she wanted something to coordinate with the scheme her girlfriend had picked out for their upcoming arrival. She also wanted it to include the cutest little quote.

So I looked at the bedding and took my cute little elephant and created this design. Notice how he is chasing the butterfly. That was her idea!

If you are ever looking for something specific just shoot me an email at lindsay[at]graceannouncements[dot]com and I will do everything possible to help you out!
